Gates Are Our Favorite Kind of Project
A custom metal gate does more than secure a property. It sets the tone for everything behind it. We've built gates for ranch estates in Prescott, modern homes in Scottsdale, and desert retreats in Sedona, and every one starts with understanding the architecture and landscape it needs to complement.
Design Styles We Build Across Arizona
Modern Minimalist. Clean horizontal slats, laser-cut geometric patterns, and bold simplicity. We build a lot of these for Scottsdale and urban Phoenix properties where the architecture is contemporary. Corten steel is a popular choice here because the natural rust patina gives the gate a warm, organic character that softens the modern lines. We often pair these with concrete or stone pillars for a finished look that feels intentional and grounded.
Rustic Ranch. This is our home turf in the Prescott and Chino Valley area. Wrought iron scrollwork, arched tops, branded monograms, and natural rust or hammered finishes. We've incorporated reclaimed wood accents into gate designs that feel like they've always belonged on the property. These gates celebrate Arizona's Western heritage, and we put a lot of craft into getting the details right.
Desert Contemporary. This style blends modern fabrication with organic, nature-inspired forms. Think flowing lines, desert flora silhouettes, mixed metal and stone elements, and earth-toned finishes. It's a style that resonates in Sedona, Cave Creek, and Paradise Valley where the landscape is part of the design conversation. We often integrate landscape lighting into these gates to create something that transforms after dark.
Spanish Colonial. Ornate scrollwork, rosettes, arched designs, and hand-forged details finished in classic black iron. We build these for traditional Arizona architecture, and the hand-forged elements are where our artisan skills really show. Medallion accents and heavy, substantial hardware give these gates the weight and presence the style demands.
Material Selection for Arizona's Climate
Arizona's extreme heat, UV exposure, and monsoon moisture will destroy a gate that's not built with the right materials and finishes. We've learned this through years of building for this climate.
Hot-dipped galvanized steel is our go-to base treatment for corrosion prevention. Powder coating with UV-resistant formulations stands up to our brutal sun far better than paint. Corten steel works beautifully here because it develops its protective patina quickly in our dry climate and stabilizes without the ongoing rust issues you'd see in humid regions. Stainless steel is an option for modern designs where zero maintenance is the priority, and aluminum makes sense for oversized gates where weight is a concern for the automation hardware.
Gate Configurations We Work With
Swing gates are the classic choice and suit most residential applications. We build slide gates when the driveway slope or available space won't accommodate a swing. Cantilever gates eliminate the ground track entirely, which is ideal for unpaved or uneven approaches. And bi-fold gates solve the problem of tight spaces where neither a full swing nor a slide is practical.
Each configuration has its own engineering requirements, and we factor in gate weight, wind loading, and automation compatibility from the start. Getting these details right in the design phase prevents problems that are expensive to fix after installation.
Our Process from Concept to Installation
Every gate we build starts with a conversation about the property, the architecture, and the homeowner's vision. We do a site assessment to evaluate the driveway, terrain, pillar conditions, and any automation requirements. Then we develop the design through sketches and CAD drawings, refining until the customer is completely satisfied.
From there, we select materials and finishes, fabricate in our shop where we control quality at every step, and handle professional installation and alignment. If the customer wants automation, we integrate the gate operator and program it as part of the installation.
We've built gates for properties across Northern Arizona, from Talking Rock Ranch in Prescott to Silverleaf in Scottsdale. Every one is a custom piece, and we treat it that way from first conversation to final walkthrough.
